The Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security has issued a decree establishing a fund of 200 million euros aimed at families in conditions of economic hardship, intended for the construction of photovoltaic systems to self-consumption.

The goal is to allow easy access to renewable energy for people belonging to households with annual income equal or inferior to 15,000 or 30,000 euros, having at least four dependent children.

The Energy Income Fund, whose operations are carried out by the Energy Services Manager (GSE), is of a rotary nature and makes available for the 2024-2025 years a total of 200 million euros, of which 80% are destined to southern regions: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Apulia, Sardinia, and Sicily. The Fund can be increased with a voluntary payment by central governments, regions, provinces, as well as public and non-profit organisations.

Photovoltaic systems serving residential units in the availability of households in conditions of economic hardship must have a nominal power of not less than 2 kilowatts and not more than 6, or in any case do not go beyond the rated power on the connection point. Photovoltaic systems (for which the decree allocates a capital contribution) must be built on roofs and surfaces, areas and relevances of which the beneficiary is the rightful owner.
