Food prices, monitoring in regional capitals

Mercato agroalimentare

Special observatories, coordinated by the Prefectures, will be set up in the regional capitals to monitor consumer prices of food products sold in retail markets.

This is provided for in a memorandum of understanding signed a few days ago between the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy and the Ministry of the Interior.

The initiative, which will make use of the cooperation of consumer associations and Unioncamere (the Italian union of chambers of commerce), will encourage more effective and capillary monitoring of the price dynamics of products that have the greatest impact on household consumption.

Consumer associations will help to collect price information and data in the markets, while Unioncamere will provide its technical support and analytical expertise in monitoring.
