The European Commission has approved an Italian scheme of 100 million euros to support companies active in Sardinia that have been damaged by the war in Ukraine, with the increase in production costs and the limitation of imports-exports.

The aid will be granted in the form of direct grants, guarantees or soft loans and will target both SMEs and large enterprises, excluding primary agricultural production and financial production.

The objective of the aid scheme is to provide liquidity to Sardinian companies. On the Island, the economic recovery has marked a downward trend in the second half of 2022 due to the increase in energy prices and supply problems that have influenced international trade to and from Sardinia, especially with regards to raw materials.

In order to cope with these price increases, maintain the supply of goods and tourism services in Sardinia, the measure aims to remedy the lack of liquidity of companies directly or indirectly affected by the economic crisis.
